Allow Multiple Resellers to Place Orders for the Same Tenant

Microsoft allows two or more indirect resellers to manage different Microsoft services for the same tenant. Our platform supports this scenario by allowing to have 2 sub-customers (that are billed to different resellers) to be linked with the same Microsoft tenant.

  • Each reseller can create a sub customer in our system that will be linked with an existing Microsoft tenant. So, there can be multiple sub customers in your BSS (billed to different resellers) that are linked with the same Microsoft tenant.
  • Our platform will create different subscriptions in the partner center, each one related to the MPNID of the reseller that placed the order.

Having Multiple Sub Customers Related to the Same Microsoft Tenant

For achieving this, we removed the restriction that we had in previous editions of our platform to have a one-to-one relation between accounts and tenants. Each reseller will create his sub customers by following the process described for the new customers or for the existing Microsoft tenants.

A reseller will be able to place an order for an existing Microsoft tenant that is already managed from another reseller, by defining during the checkout process the tenant's domain prefix or primary domain. The process is the following:

  1. The reseller will define in "End Customer" step the details of his sub customer for the BSS account to be created
  2. In the "Service Details" step, he must do the following:
    1. If the tenant still has as primary domain the onmicrosoft.com, he must enter his domain prefix in the correspondent field and presses next for the checkout to continue. Our platform will discover that there is already a tenant in your Microsoft partner center with this domain prefix and it will link the new BSS account that was created in step 1 with this tenant.
    2. If the tenant has defined a new primary domain, the reseller must:
      1. Selects the option "My customer is already using Office 365 service and he/she owns this domain"
      2. Presses the link "Verify Authorization" for the "default domain" pop-up to be displayed.
The reseller doesn't need to send to the customer the link for authorizing you as his CSP, since the customer has already done this when the first reseller onboarded this customer under your CSP account.
      3. Enters in the pop-up tenant's default domain. Our platform will discover that there is already a tenant in your Microsoft partner center with this domain and it will link the new BSS account that was created in step 1 with this tenant.
      4. Presses next for the checkout to continue.

Placing Orders for Non Office 365 Business Plans

For non Business plans, Microsoft in the partner center allows multiple subscriptions for the same plan for the same tenant. So, when two or more resellers purchase the same plan for the same tenant, our platform creates a new subscription in MS partner center that is related with reseller's MNP ID.

Since each BSS subscription is linked via the MS Subscription ID with the related subscription in Microsoft partner center, any action that will be performed for this subscription in our platform (quantity changes, addons additions, cancellation) will be applied to the related MS subscription.

Placing Orders for Office 365 Business Plans

For the Office 365 plans (Office 365 Business,  Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business Premium etc), Microsoft allows only up to two subscriptions in partner center. So, when you have multiple resellers ordering business plans for the same Microsoft tenant we need to take into consideration this factor too. The rules that we apply for the ordering of O365 business plans are the following:

  1. If the same reseller has multiple BSS subscriptions for the same business plan for the same tenant, we relate all the BSS subscriptions with a single MS partner center subscription and we manage the quantity accordingly. Check Ordering Office 365 Business Plans for understanding how we manage the provisioned quantities for the business plans.
  2. If a second reseller wants to place an order for the same business plan for a tenant that has already a subscription for this plan under a different reseller, we accept the order only if a second subscription can be created for this tenant in MS partner center.

Check the following flow of requests for understanding how these rules apply:

Action Result
Reseller A places an order for 5 monthly Business Essentials licenses for tenant Globo TechA new monthly subscription (MS1) for 5 Business licenses is created in MS partner center for tenant Globo Tech related with reseller A
Reseller A places a new order for 3 monthly Business Essentials licenses for tenant Globo Tech

*if you haven't activated price protection for the Business Essential plan, our platform will create a second BSS subscription that will relate with MS1 subscription and it will still update its quantity to 8.
