Microsoft Perpetual Licenses

The set of available Microsoft products called Perpetual Licenses, offers to qualified partners the opportunity to sell a greater breadth of Microsoft products through CSP. Microsoft’s move, to introduce these products, provides a new level of flexibility for clients who have specific workloads that they can’t move over to the cloud.

Perpetual licenses belong to the "license" software category and require a one-time upfront purchase, in contrast to traditional CSP, being a monthly subscription model. The Perpetual License software in the CSP includes popular desktop tools such as Visio, Project, and Office Suites as well as the Office components i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Also, infrastructure servers are included, such as Windows Server, SQL Server, and Biztalk Server. Productivity servers include Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business, and Project Server.

Activating Perpetual Licenses

The Microsoft Perpetual Licenses are managed by the same service manager we have implemented for the rest of Microsoft cloud services. So, you must run the Updating the Microsoft Cloud Services Catalogue process for activating the Perpetual Licenses in your BSS. This process will create in your BSS the Microsoft Perpetual License products that you can resell.

Billing Microsoft Perpetual Licenses

Microsoft Perpetual Licences are charged only once on purchase date. The pricing information comes automatically from Microsoft and contains both the cost price (i.e what Microsoft charges you as a CSP) and the retail prices that match the country of the end customer. This means that you have the flexibility to bill your reseller and your customer either by setting a margin above your cost or by defining a discount for Microsoft's retail price, exactly as you do for the Office 365 plans.

Ordering Microsoft Perpetual License Products from Storefront

For a customer or reseller to purchase a Microsoft Perpetual License product, you need first to publish them in your Storefront following the same process you are using for the Office 365 plans.

Ordering Microsoft Perpetual License Products from BSS

The ordering process from BSS for Perpetual License products is similar to the process you are using for the Office 365 products.

Microsoft Perpetual License Assets

The Microsoft Perpetual Licenses are represented in our system as assets. The assets are part of our Billing module and when your resellers or your customers place an order for a Perpetual License, a new asset record is created in our platform for managing and invoicing purposes.

On this page, we explain what information we keep in the asset record for each Perpetual License and how you or your customers can manage them.

Conversion Tool for Prices of Perpetual License Assets

This tool facilitates the manualy configured currency conversion of Microsoft Perpetual License assets prices for all countries and currencies, even those that Microsoft automatically supports.

Cancellation of Microsoft Perpetual License Assets

Cancellation of a Perpetual License asset for all Qualifications is limited to a total of 30 days after the purchase date. Perpetual software licenses returned within the 30-day return period receive a full credit of the paid purchase price.

On this page, we explain the three main cancellation options provided for a Perpetual License and how you or your customers can utilize them.
