Ordering Microsoft Perpetual License Products from Storefront

For a customer or reseller to purchase a Microsoft Perpetual License product, you need first to publish them in your Storefront following the same process you are using for the Office 365 plans.

On this page, we will explain the ordering process, but we will mainly focus on the differences and how our platform manages them. The main differences are the following:

  • Prices are calculated automatically based on the end customer’s country.

  • Qualifications are available depending on the countries defined in the Microsoft instance and the end customer's qualification eligibility.

    • Commercial Eligibility: All end customers can purchase Perpetual License products with a commercial qualification.

    • Non-Commercial Eligibility: Only end customers with certain non-commercial eligibility, such as (Education, Non-profit, and Governmental) can purchase Perpetual License products with the respective qualification.

Publishing Microsoft Perpetual License Products In your Storefront

The Perpetual License products are created automatically in your system. What you need to do for being available to your customers and your resellers, is to publish them in your Storefront by following the instructions described in Publish a Product in Storefront page. Also, the Perpetual License products can be published in your Storefront either as part of a product group or separately, each one with its own marketing material.

The major difference here is that the prices are calculated based on the country of the end customer. When your resellers and customers login into your Storefront, they will see an indicative price and the correct price will be calculated on the first page of the basket.

Ordering a Perpetual License Product

The ordering process for Perpetual License products is similar to the process your customers and resellers are using for the Office 365 products.

By selecting one of the available plans, they will be directed to the "add to basket" page for setting the number of licenses they want:

Then, the selected Perpetual License product will be added to the basket.

During this checkout phase, is where the final applicable price is calculated, once the end customer is selected since the automatically applied price is based on the customer's country.

When the checkout process has been completed, there will be an asset record that represents in our system the purchased Perpetual License product. We will also generate the invoice for charging in advance the Perpetual License after your customer's purchase.

Prices Calculation for Perpetual License Products

We calculate the cost and sell prices of the Perpetual License products with the following process:

  • End customer’s currency is included in the Pricing Excel Microsoft has published for the end customer’s country.

    1. CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are retrieved from the Microsoft pricing file.

    2. Should a customer’s pricelist exist, it is applied to calculate the order item’s unit cost and unit price.

  • Microsoft does not support end customer’s currency.

    1. CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are retrieved from the Microsoft pricing file. We retrieve the prices in the currency the exchange rate has been set up and from the Microsoft pricing file defined in the tool (the “Market Country Pricelist”).
For example, If you have defined for the Venezuelan Bolivar an exchange range with the USD currency and Mexico as the Market Country Pricelist, we will retrieve the USD prices from the Mexico pricing file.

    2. CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are calculated for the customer’s currency using the FX rate defined in the conversion tool.

    3. Should customer’s pricelist exist, it is applied to calculate the order item’s unit cost and unit price.

Our system will not be able to calculate the prices if the customer’s currency is not included in Microsoft pricing excel and you haven’t defined an FX rate for this currency. In this case, the ordering process will be terminated informing the customer that we cannot calculate the prices.

Downloading the Product and its License Keys

The Storefront user is able to download the purchased software and obtain the license keys in various ways:

  • Through the “My Workspace” tab on the Storefront which redirects the user to the Microsoft Admin Center.

  • By directly logging in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (office portal) and receiving them.

  • Resellers can log in to the Microsoft Partner Center and retrieve them from there, since they are also available for download from that point as well.
(Indirect CSPs will require the help of a direct CSP to access the Partner Center, since indirect CSPs do not have access to license keys.)
