Scheduled Orders

The Scheduled Orders Storefront feature allows your Storefront users and customers to schedule their orders for execution on a future date. The execution is then performed automatically by our systems on the specified execution date. On this page, you can find an analysis of this feature as well as its prerequisites, rules, and child pages that contain further analysis concerning the management, the execution, and the reporting and notifications of scheduled orders.

Tenant & Standard Resellers Availability of Feature

Currently, the Scheduled Orders functionality is available for Tenant resellers but not yet for the Standard resellers.

What are Scheduled Orders?

The term Scheduled Orders, means that you have the option to schedule a Storefront order to be executed at a future date. This means that the order items of that Scheduled Order will be executed automatically from the billing service of the platform, and the provisioning of the services is consequently run during that future date. Therefore, with the addition of this feature, Storefront users have the choice between executing an order either immediately or schedule it for execution at a later date. This feature is very beneficial to all Storefront users since it provides efficiency as well as an overall boost in productivity, while you offer more (order-related) options to your customers, which subsequently improves their satisfaction.

Which Items Can Be Included In a Scheduled Order?

Only orders for new subscriptions (that may or may not have related add-ons), assets, and one-off products are allowed for scheduling. Therefore, when there is at least one of the following order items, the order is not allowed to be scheduled:

  • Order items that increase a subscription’s quantity.

  • Order items that increase an add-on’s quantity.

  • Order items that upgrade a subscription.

  • Order items that upgrade a trial to paid subscription.

  • Order items for trials.

  • Order items for add-ons related to an existing subscription.

  • Order items that are not automatically executed.

We are planning to support some of the above scenarios in the future.

Order Statuses of Scheduled Orders

For the Scheduled Orders feature to be supported in our systems, we have introduced two new systemic Order statuses called, Scheduled and Executing. Those two statuses are available for all organizations (root & tenants), and they are displayed under the BSS Setup > Sales > Orders > Order Status list. More specifically, the Scheduled status is used to define an order that has been scheduled, while the Executing status is used to define an order that has been scheduled and is currently being executed.
