Google Analytics - GA4 Workaround

Please note that this page is only for On-Premise users who have not upgraded to version 3.28.101 which supports the GA4 tags.

For BSS and Storefront users who use Google Analytics, it is required to perform the steps listed below to avoid any Google Analytics malfunction due to the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tags from Google.

Step 1 - Disable Google Universal Analytics

First, disable Google Universal Analytics by following this path in your BSS:

Setup → Administration → System Options → Storefront Configuration → General tab → Enable Google Universal Analytics

The checkbox in this section must be unchecked.

Step 2 - Copy Google Analytics Script

This action must be performed by either BSS administrators or Standard Resellers.

Copy the Google Analytics script by following the instructions below:

  1. Login to your Google Analytics account and Open the Admin Menu

 

  1. Select Setup Assistant

 

  1. In the Data Collection section select DATA FLOWING, then Manage data streams

 

  1. In the Google tag section → select View tag instructions

 

  1. Copy the script

Step 3 - Paste the Code in the BSS

In the BSS, go to Setup → Administration → System Options → Storefront Configuration → Advanced Settings tab → Custom Script in Header

Paste the script here.

Step 4 - Paste the Code in the Storefront

In the Storefront, open the Admin Menu and go to Storefront Settings → Advanced Settings → Header tab
