Limitations of Microsoft Legacy Subscription Licenses (Quantity Increase/Decrease)

On this page, you can find an analysis of the License Quantity Check mechanism for Legacy Microsoft subscriptions.

Microsoft legacy products and add-ons have specific limitations on the minimum and maximum number of licenses that a subscription can have. A license quantity check mechanism has been added to our platform to prevent subscription creation failures due to license quantity limitations. This mechanism will help prevent synchronization failures of legacy subscriptions in our platform while ensuring that our platform users do not exceed the specified license limits when increasing or decreasing the quantity of their Legacy subscriptions.

Legacy Product Types that Have the License Quantity Check

This preventative mechanism is utilized inside the BSS and Storefront portals as well as inside our API and addresses only the following license-based legacy product types, containing legacy products and add-ons:

  • Microsoft Cloud Services, and their children product types.

  • Microsoft Dynamics, and their children product types.

Main Functions of the License Quantity Check

This mechanism utilizes two methods for preventing the exceedance of limitations of licenses during quantity changes to Microsoft Legacy subscriptions in our platform.

  1. Prevention of exceedance of the available range of licenses when increasing or decreasing them on an existing Legacy subscription in our platform: This means that on either of our portals (BSS & Storefront), the system will stop you from exceeding the defined range of licenses, during a purchase or a change of license quantity.

  2. Informative messages of the available range of licenses during the quantity change from both the BSS and the Storefront portals: This means that if a platform user attempts to purchase or change the licenses' quantity outside the product/add-on limitations for the subscription’s license quantity, they receive the following message: The item '<item.name>' supports quantity range between <min_value> and <max_value>. You can witness it in the following two screenshot examples.
