Ordering Microsoft Software Subscriptions from Storefront
- Panagiotis Papanastasiou
For a customer or reseller to purchase a Microsoft subscriptions product, you need first to publish them in your Storefront following the same process you are using for the Office 365 plans.
On this page, we will explain the ordering process, but we will mainly focus on the differences and how our platform manages them. The main difference is the following:
Prices are calculated automatically based on the end customer’s country.
Billing Frequency, is available for Software Subscriptions.
Publishing Microsoft Subscriptions In your Storefront
The Software subscriptions products are created automatically in your system. What you need to do for making them available to your customers and your resellers, is to publish them in your Storefront by following the instructions described in Publish a Product in Storefront page.
The Software subscription products can be published in your Marketplace either as part of a product group or separately, each one with its own marketing material.
The major difference here is that the prices are calculated automatically based on the country of the end customer. When your resellers and customers login into your Storefront, they will see an indicative price and the correct price will be calculated on the first page of the basket.
Ordering a Software Subscription Product
The ordering process for Software subscription products is similar to the process your customers and resellers use for Office 365 products.
By selecting one of the available plans, they will be directed to the "add to basket" page for setting the quantity and the Billing Plan they want:
Then, the selected Software subscription plan will be added to the basket.
During this checkout phase, is where the final applicable price is calculated, once the end customer is selected since the automatically applied price is based on the customer's country.
When the checkout process has been completed, there will be a subscription record that represents in our system the purchased Software subscription product. We will also generate the invoice for charging in advance for 1 or 3 years the quantity your customers purchased.
Prices Calculation for Software Subscription Products
We calculate the cost and sell prices of the Software Subscription products with the following process:
End customer’s currency is included in the Pricing Excel Microsoft has published for the end customer’s country.
CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are retrieved from the Microsoft pricing file.
Should a customer’s pricelist exist, it is applied to calculate the order item’s unit cost and unit price.
Microsoft does not support end customer’s currency.
CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are retrieved from the Microsoft pricing file. We retrieve the prices in the currency the exchange rate has been set up and from the Microsoft pricing file defined in the tool (the “Market Country Pricelist”).
For example, If you have defined for the Venezuelan Bolivar an exchange range with the USD currency and Mexico as the Market Country Pricelist, we will retrieve the USD prices from the Mexico pricing file.CSP cost and Microsoft SRP prices are calculated for the customer’s currency using the FX rate defined in the conversion tool.
Should customer’s pricelist exist, it is applied to calculate the order item’s unit cost and unit price.
Our system will not be able to calculate the prices if the customer’s currency is not included in Microsoft pricing excel, and you haven’t defined an FX rate for this currency. In this case, the ordering process will be terminated, by informing the customer that we cannot calculate the prices.
