Activating PayU South Africa Payment Gateway

interworks.cloud platform offers a straightforward facility to configure the PayU South Africa payment gateway. After registering to PayU South Africa you can proceed to set up an environment for checking the process and learning how to work with it. Then, just as easily, you can proceed with switching to "Live Mode" and getting ready to accept payments from your customers. 

Retrieving Store's API Credentials and Safe key


When integrating you will require a Safekey, Webservice (aka SOAP) username and password in order for your website/application to interact with the PayU services. These details are the unique identifiers PayU uses to identify transactions coming to your store.

Configure PayU South Africa WebPay Plus Payment Method

Follow the steps below to configure the PayU South Africa Gateway in your BSS.

  1. In order to activate the PayU South Africa, navigate to Setup > Administration > System options > Payment Gateways and click Add.


  2. Expand the drop down list and select PayU South Africa Payments.

  3. A new pop-up screen will appear for you to setup the payment gateway:
    • SafeKey: The "SafeKey" that was provided to you when you registered to PayU South Africa.
    • SOAP Username: The "SOAP Username" that was provided to you when you registered to PayU South Africa.
    • SOAP Password: The "SOAP Password" that was provided to you when you registered to PayU South Africa.
    • Live Mode:When you have finished testing the payment gateway in 'Test Mode', you can enable the checkbox 'Live Mode' to have the gateway fully functional for your customers.
    • ActiveThis checkbox is responsible for activating and deactivating this payment gateway.

After filling in all the required credentials and choosing either the Test mode or the Live mode, you can activate or deactivate the payment gateway but in any case you must click the Add Gateway button in order to proceed with the addition of this payment gateway. 

Now that the PayU South Africa gateway is activated in Cloud BSS, the last step is to create a Payment Method that will utilize this gateway.

  1. Navigate to Setup > Administration > System Options > Payment Methods.
  2. Create a new payment method of Type Credit Card, with Zero Payment Days and PayU South Africa as the selected Payment Gateway and set it to Active by enabling its corresponding checkbox.
  3. Lastly, click the (plus) icon to add it to the rest of your payment methods and then click the Save button in order to save the new payment method. 


In order to provide this newly created payment option within your Storefront, you must access your account and click the Edit... button so as to change the Payment Method via the drop down menu as exemplified below.
