Managing a Bundle Subscription in BSS
After executing a Bundle order, a subscription is created—similar to a standard product subscription. However, the key difference is that in a Bundle subscription, all sub-products are invoiced through the main Bundle subscription and follow the pricing rules defined in the Bundle configuration.
Bundle Subscription Rules
A Bundle subscription can only be canceled as a whole; individual sub-products within the Bundle cannot be canceled separately.
Once an order containing a Bundle has been executed, no changes can be made to its sub-products.
Any adjustments to the Bundle quantity after order execution will apply to the entire Bundle subscription, not to individual sub-products.
Upgrades are currently not supported for bundles that include sub-products or add-ons with external pricing (NCE products and their add-ons).
Bundle Subscription View
The Bundle subscription view-page in the BSS platform displays all the relevant information concerning the Bundle product such as the ordering and billing information as well as the provisioning sync statuses and invoices. On this page, the BSS user can change the quantity of a Bundle product, check for price-protected sub-products, and monitor the "Provisioning Sync Status" of the Bundle's sub-product subscriptions.
Edit Bundle Subscription Options
The same editing capabilities that apply to normal subscriptions also apply to Bundle subscriptions, meaning you can edit the subscription name and its characteristics.
Renew a Bundle Subscription and its Sub-Subscriptions
The renewal of a Bundle's subscription is the exact same procedure as the one for simple products.
The BSS user is able to renew the whole Bundle subscription, which will affect the sub-subscriptions accordingly. However, renewing only a specific sub-subscription is not possible.
Ribbon of Price Protected Sub-Products
On the Bundle's subscription page, a ribbon is displayed for each sub-subscription to let the user know which sub-subscription is under price protection. The user is not able to edit or remove any Price Protection from the Bundle's subscription page. However, via this ribbon, the name of the sub-subscription will be a link that redirects to the specific sub-subscription so that the user can edit the price protection.
Edit Pricing Info for Bundle Subscriptions
As with other subscriptions, the user has the option to edit the pricing information by clicking the Edit Pricing Info on the top left corner of the subscription view page.
You may only modify the pricing details of the bundle subscription as a whole. Pricing information for individual sub-products or add-on sub-subscriptions cannot be edited. In this case, the Edit Pricing Info button will be deactivated.
Provisioning Sync Statuses
The Provisioning Sync Status information that is present on every Bundle subscription, is essential since it depicts the state of that status for each provisioning product that participates in the Bundle. As a result, the number of sub-products within a Bundle will also be the number of sub-products that appear under the "Provisioning Sync Status" placeholder.
When the Synchronization of all the Bundle's sub-products is working, then the word "Synchronized" is displayed, which basically is a link that when clicked it displays a pop-up window in which the BSS user can check the synchronization details.
However, in case of a failed subscription, a Retry button is also present next to each sub-product that on click will trigger the re-provisioning procedure only for the corresponding sub-subscription.
Subscription Characteristics
At the Subscription Characteristic section, the BSS user can find each participating Bundle's product description and exactly below their exact sub-product names that have been provisioned through the sub-subscriptions.
Add-on
As it was previously mentioned, add-ons can participate in a Bundle product via their corresponding sub-products. The add-ons follow the actions of their related sub-products in a Bundle subscription. Except from the sub-subscription view-page, the add-ons are also displayed at the Bundle's subscription view-page. Either at a Bundle subscription or at the corresponding sub-subscription the view will be the following.
Sub-Subscriptions
The Sub-Subscriptions section is a list that contains all the created sub-subscriptions of a Bundle subscription. The list contains, on the upper left corner, a drop-down menu filter for the BSS user to choose which sub-subscriptions he wishes to view per status, such as Active, Inactive, Suspended, Cancelled, and Trial.
Each row on the list contains the basic details of each sub-subscription such as:
Status: Each sub-subscription status is displayed with the use of the icons for Active orfor Cancelled Subscriptions.
Product/Service (Description): Is the name of a sub-subscription that works as a link which redirects the user to the sub-subscription page.
Quantity: Indicates the quantity of each sub-subscription.
Billing Cycle: Indicates the billing cycle of each sub-subscription, which is usually Monthly or Annually.
Activation Date: Is the date on which the sub-subscription was activated.
Next Renewal Date: Is the date on which the sub-subscription will be renewed, and is essentially the same date that the Bundle's subscription gets renewed since both dates are directly related.
No Add-ons on the Sub-Subscription List
At the Sub-Subscription list no add-ons are being displayed even if they are participating in the Bundle since the addons do not have their own subscription.
They only appear as a section at their assigned sub-subscription view page. For more details, please look at the "Sub-Subscription View-Page" below.
Sub-Subscription View-Page
Upon clicking on one of the lists Product/Service descriptions, the BSS user is redirected to the corresponding sub-subscription view-page. On this page, all the relevant information concerning the sub-subscription of a Bundle's sub-product are displayed. Although it looks very similar to the Bundle's subscription view-page, the information displayed is unique and corresponds only to that sub-product's sub-subscription and the editing functionality is reduced even further. Moreover, another differentiation factor is that a ribbon with the message "This Subscription is part of "Name of Bundle's Subscription" Bundle" is displayed in order to make clear to the BSS user that this is a Bundle's sub-subscription. The name of the Bundle subscription depicted on the ribbon is a link that redirects to the corresponding Bundle Subscription.
If the BSS user wishes to edit the sub-subscription he can do so by clicking on the Edit... button but he is able to change only the name.
The "Provisioning Sync Status" for every specific sub-subscription is also available within the sub-subscription's view-page.
Price-Protected Pricing in a Bundle's Subscription when Increasing Quantity
In Bundle subscriptions where price-protected sub-products exist, the same rules apply for them as for the normal price-protected subscriptions when a quantity increase occurs.
