Required Products
This page contains information on what required products are and how to set them for a specific product.
What is a Required Product?
Setting required products for another product, means that that when the latter is purchased, the former must be purchased as well. E.g., Product A having a required product Product B, means that upon purchasing Product A, Product B must be purchased as well.
Assigning Required Products
In the product view in the BSS, select Set Required Products, and search for the products you want to set as required.
The required products will then be displayed in the billing section.
Ordering Products with Required Products
BSS
When adding a product which has required products to an order, all the required products are automatically added as separate order items. BSS users may still remove the required products from the order. If the base product is removed from the order, the required products will be removed as well.
Please note that the BSS does not check whether the customer has already purchased the required products. Every time a product with required products is added to an order, the corresponding required products will be added as well.
Storefront
If a product or add-on has required products, a question mark icon is displayed next to its price. The product price includes the price of the required products. Selecting the icon displays the name and price of the product and each required product.
The What You Pay section also contains an entry for each required product.
Subscriptions for Products with Required Products
After the order is executed, BSS users can manually create subscriptions. If a paid subscription is created for a product which has required products, no additional subscriptions are created for the required products.
When a trial subscription is created for a product which has required products, trial subscriptions are created for the corresponding required products as well. All subscriptions that are automatically created for the required products are related to and managed via the base product subscription. It is not possible to manage the subscriptions of the required products as standalone subscriptions.
