Billing Frequency for Tenant Resellers

In this page, we analyze the option of enabling and disabling the Billing Frequency (installments) availability to a Tenant Reseller organization via the Parent organization in BSS.

What is Billing Frequency?

A flexible payment method, called Billing Frequency (also known as Billing Plans), is available, upon activation, to all our Microsoft customers where the payments for New Commerce Experience (NCE) annual services received via both the BSS and the Storefront can be accomplished via installments instead of a one-off payment. This functionality can also become available to all the Tenant Reseller organizations of a Parent organization via a single button. This button does not affect the backordering functionality since it can function with or without the Billing Frequency option. For more information concerning the Billing Frequency as well as backordering, please check the https://interworkscloud.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ICPD/pages/746684417 page.

After the 3.28.62 release note, all BSS Parent organizations will have at their disposal a button under the Shortcuts menu of each Tenant Reseller organization view page named Enable/Disable Billing Plans. This button, allows parent organizations to select which of their Tenant Resellers will have the right to sell and buy with installments applicable Microsoft services, such as the New Commerce Experience products. By default, this button is deactivated for all your Tenant Resellers, meaning that no Billing Plans will be offered to them. For now, we can focus on how this functionality can be enabled or disabled for a Tenant Reseller via the Parent organization in BSS.

Enabling Billing Plans for Tenant Resellers

By navigating to the view page of one of your Tenant Resellers, you can find the toggle action button in the default Enable Billing Plans state, meaning that the Billing Plans are not available to that Tenant Reseller.

Once the button is clicked, the following pop-up window appears, informing the BSS user that this action will enable the Billing Plans for the specific Tenant Reseller.

By clicking on the OK button, the Billing Plans become available to that Tenant Reseller organization, and this change also applies during the backordering.
Therefore, when the Tenant organization has the Billing Plans enabled then for new orders:

  • In BSS: On the 'Order Items' edit page, the user can select one of the available Billing Plans.

  • In Storefront: On the 'Add to Basket' page, the user can select from the available Billing Plans.

Disabling Billing Plans for Tenant Resellers

By navigating to the view page of one of your Tenant Resellers, you can find the (previously enabled) toggle action button in the Enable Billing Plans state, meaning that the Billing Plans are currently available to that Tenant Reseller.

Once the button is clicked, the following pop-up window appears, informing the BSS user that this action will disable the Billing Plans for the specific Tenant Reseller.

By clicking on the OK button, the Billing Plans become unavailable to that Tenant Reseller organization, and this change also applies during the backordering.
Therefore, when the Tenant organization has the Billing Plans disabled, then for new orders:

  • In BSS: On the Orders Items edit page, the user is unable to select a Billing Plan.

  • In Storefront: On the Add to Basket page, the user is unable to select a Billing Plan.

Existing Subscriptions with Installments in the Tenant Organization after Disabling the Billing Plans

Concerning the existing subscriptions with installments in the Tenant organization, they will continue to function properly and generate invoices on the due date of each and every installment.
