Defining the Impossible Cloud Products

In interworks.cloud platform you can define your Impossible Cloud products by using the Impossible Cloud product type.

Getting the Product Type for the Impossible Cloud Services

The first step is to get the definition of Impossible Cloud services. For doing this, you must run the "Get Services Definition" action in the Impossible Cloud settings page.
This action will create the product type "Impossible Cloud - Premium Cloud Storage" in your BSS for using it to create your products.

You are done creating the one required Impossible Cloud Product Types and/or updating the Service Manager with the latest functionality.

Now, you can locate the product type "Impossible Cloud - Premium Cloud Storage" under the BSS > Setup > Billing > Products > Product Types.

Inside the product type page you can witness the only product characteristic that is available, which is called "Allocated Capacity (GB)" and receives numeric values based on gigabytes.

Creating an Impossible Cloud Storage "Base Product" in the BSS Portal

You can now begin creating a primary (base) Impossible Cloud storage product that is based on the Impossible Cloud - Premium Cloud Storage product type.
For creating this product in your BSS, you must navigate to BSS Homepage > Billing > Products and from the Products List page select the Add > Add Product menu option.

As an example, you can set the following parameters to the primary Impossible Cloud storage product:

  • Description: Set "Impossible Cloud 1TB"
  • Product Type: Select "Impossible Cloud - Premium Cloud Storage"
  • Allocated Capacity (GB): Fill in the number of (for example 1TB) in GBs, meaning "1024".
  • Pricing Type: It is a monthly subscription based product, so you must select "Recurring charge - Prepaid".
  • Enable also the monthly billing cycle since these products must always have a monthly billing term.

Afterwards, you can Save the product in order to utilize it, publish it into the Storefront portal as well as assigning an add-on to it, and provide a price to it, before offering it to your customers.

Please note here that you can create more than one products that will represent storage increments, or you can create add-ons for this base product that will serve as storage increments.

Creating an Impossible Cloud Storage "Add-on" in the BSS Portal

The ideal solution after the creation of a base storage product, is the creation of multiple add-ons to that base product that will serve as different storage increments, e.g. one add-on for 2 TB, another one for 5TB, and another one for 10TB, etc.

For creating one or more add-ons to the base product (analyzed above) in your BSS, you can either navigate to BSS Homepage > Billing > Products and from the Products List page select the Add > Add Product menu option, or go to the view page of the base product you have created and select the Add Add-on option.

As an example, you can set the following parameters to the Impossible Cloud storage add-on:

  • Description: Set "Impossible Cloud 5TB Add-on"
  • Product Type: Select "Impossible Cloud - Premium Cloud Storage"
  • Allocated Capacity (GB): Fill in the number of (for example 1TB) in GBs, meaning "5120".
  • Pricing Type: It is a monthly subscription add-on, so you must select "Recurring charge - Prepaid".
  • Enable also the monthly billing cycle since these add-ons must always have a monthly billing term.

Afterwards, you can Save the add-on in order to utilize it, assign it to the base product as well as provide a price to it, before offering it to your customers.

Set Products as Mutually Exclusive

In case you offer only one Impossible Cloud product you do not have to do this action. However, for cases where multiple Impossible Cloud product are created and offered with different storage capacities, then BSS users have to set these products as mutually exclusive. Follow the settings below analyzed below, to achieve that.

  1. Open the details page of the "Impossible Cloud 1TB" product, as per our previous example.
  2. Select from Shortcuts the option "Set Mutually Exclusive Products".
  3. Select all other Impossible Cloud products and click the Add button to complete the process.
