With the introduction of the Granular Delegated Administrative Privileges (GDAP) security model of access from Microsoft, we have created a simplified mechanism in BSS, to accomodate the fastest possible creation of GDAP roles by establishing a GDAP relationship between both platforms (the Microsoft Partner Center and the BSS) as well as between indirect providers with their customers while at the same time defining this relationship for a specific period of time.

Under every instance of the Microsoft Service Manager in BSS, you can find, two new non-compulsory fields called Azure AD Roles for GDAP and GDAP duration in days, where you can assign as many GDAP roles as you wish. These GDAP roles will be used to create a specific GDAP relationship between an indirect provider with the customer when creating a new Microsoft tenant or when synchronizing a new customer to an existing Microsoft tenant, for the first time. Therefore, those fields are addressed to new customers of your BSS organization and Microsoft Partner Center(MPC), as well as existing Microsoft Partner Center customers that have transitioned to your organization.

A major part of this Microsoft initiative is the transition from Delegated Admin Privileges (DAP) to Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP). The timeplan for this is to be announced by Microsoft in February 2023. During the transition period, both DAP and GDAP will coexist. GDAP permissions will be taking precedence over DAP permissions for Microsoft 365, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Azure workloads. However, GDAP will eventually replace DAP as Microsoft works toward providing greater security for partners and customers. The impacted audience includes direct-bill partners, indirect providers, indirect resellers, and control panel vendors transacting through the Cloud Solution Provider program.

Microsoft have recently announced that is extending the previously announced GDAP timeline and will provide an update on the new schedule by February 15, 2023. Also, Microsoft has not yet released the productive API, with which our integration is built and the current implementation is based on a Microsoft’s BETA environment. For that, our GDAP enablement feature is on BETA Edition. If you wish to wait for the official release of and the time-plan announcement by Microsoft, you may not activate it in your instance.
