Automatic Pricing

Backordering Process for

Microsoft Software Subscriptions

From this release, we fully support all Software Subscriptions pricing rules introduced by Microsoft:

  1. Automatic Upload of Software Subscription Products Prices: The existing integration of Software Subscriptions now supports the automatic retrieval and assignment of prices to Software Subscription products, without the need for manual price import.

  2. Prices are calculated automatically based on the end customer’s country and currency: Software Subscription product prices during the creation of an order are displayed with their maximum value but before the execution of the order, the correct prices are displayed for the selected end customer.

  3. Conversion Tool for Unsupported Microsoft Currencies: For currencies that are not officially supported by Microsoft we offer a user-friendly currency conversion tool in which foreign exchange rates can be created and stored so as to support those currencies while reselling Software Subscription products.

The new version of the Software Subscriptions is also available to both country and tenant resellers.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The first thing that clients need to do after this release note, is to activate the currencies they want on their Software Subscription products on the respective Microsoft instance (on the Active Currencies selection field), then save the instance and finally run the Get Services Definition process. This is of utmost importance in order for the changes of the automatic pricing of Software Subscriptions to be applied to the existing Microsoft instances.

After running the Get Services Definition action, depending on the defined countries of your BSS Microsoft instance, our system will automatically update every available Software Subscription product in BSS along with its cost and sell prices, for you to resell.

(info) Please check the Microsoft Software Subscriptions page for more information.

Manual Configuration on All Currencies of ‘Software Subscription’ Conversion Rates

With the introduction of the automatic pricing of Software subscriptions, BSS users can now manually set conversion rates for all the available currencies in their organization, per instance, via the existing tool named Software Subscriptions Currency Selection & Conversion. By manually setting a conversion rate between two or more currencies via the aforementioned tool, the automatically retrieved conversion rates of Microsoft-supported currencies are stopped in favor of the manual setup. Thus, when a Software Subscription product has both conversion rates available, be that the automatic or the manual, the final price will be calculated with the manually provided conversion rate.

(info) Please check the Billing an Acronis Consumption Based Product & Billing an Acronis Fixed Price with Overage Product pages for more information.

Manually Editable Translations for the Microsoft Service Manager messages in Storefront

Now, BSS users can manually modify the provided language translations in their organization by navigating to Setup Tools Organization - Language Translation Management, and the results will be displayed correctly on their Storefront. For the time being, this feature applies to the following product types:

  • Microsoft Online Services.

  • Software Subscriptions.

  • Legacy Office 365 and Legacy Reservations.

In later releases, the following subjects will also be addressed:

  1. The rest of the product types.

  2. User management - messages.

  3. Custom requests.

Improved Performance for the Assets List in the Storefront

When navigating to the Assets list page in the Storefront environment, all available actions under the three dots menu will be loaded asynchronously. A loading message will be displayed until the actions are shown, and if no actions are available, the system will display a message to confirm this.

Strings for the Upcoming Release Note

The following Excel file contains the latest strings for translation, based on their tag_name, for the upcoming release note 3.28.79.

Subscriptions with External Pricing (NCE products)

We improved how we calculate the prices for subscriptions created or managed in a Tenant reseller and pushed them back to the Root Organization via the Backordering process. For products using the external pricing mechanism, we now identify the vendor’s cost and sell prices when the subscription is created in the Tenant reseller. We then push these prices back to the Root organization instead of re-calculating again in the Root organization. We decided to follow this approach for:

  • Eliminating the price discrepancies between the two organizations if the external pricing mechanism fails in the root organization.

  • Improving the performance of our platform by decreasing the API calls we send to Microsoft.

Integration Framework - Use of the Aggregated Invoice Items

From this release, our integration framework returns only the aggregated invoice items. This will simplify any implementation that is based on the integration framework since you will not need extra conditions for separating the aggregated lines from the analytical lines.

Billing Software Subscriptions and Perpetual Licenses using Microsoft FX Rates

For billing software subscriptions and perpetual licenses, we initially search if the customer’s currency is included in the Microsoft price file. If not, we check in the conversion tool for the FX rate for the customer’s currency. If you haven’t defined any FX rate in the conversion tool, we then use Microsoft’s FX rates.

From this release, the Microsoft FX rate we are using is the rate between the customer’s currency and the default currency, as defined in Microsoft connector settings.

Resolved Issues

A list of the major bugs fixed in this release

Bug Description

No credit invoice is generated in the root organization when a perpetual license is cancelled in the tenant organization.

Tenant Resellers: NCE subscriptions that are upgraded fully from customers (via the Storefront) are having wrong cost prices - Microsoft cost price is used, not what reseller will pay to the distributor.

Volume pricing discounts are not applied correctly when a customer is billed from a pricelsit that is using cost markup rule.

When a BSS User upgrades a trial subscription for a product with External Pricing Product and Price Protection, the upgraded paid subscription has not correct values.
