Upgrade to an Existing NCE Subscription in BSS
Upgrade Steps
BSS users can upgrade their NCE subscriptions via the BSS portal by selecting the dedicated Upgrade button, inside the subscription view.
By selecting the Upgrade button, all the available upgrade options appear in the Subscriptions Upgrade pop-up window, under the Upgrade To drop-down menu, as retrieved by the Get Services Definition process, and based on their eligibility.
The Upgrade To drop-down list shows all the available upgrade options. If a subscription has no available upgrade path, the Upgrade To drop-down menu will be empty.
To help them through the process, the BSS user can also review information on the current subscription:
Current Subscription: The name of the current subscription.
Quantity: The number of licenses of the current subscription.
Unit Price: The price per unit of the current subscription.
Billing Plan: The current billing plan (whenever applicable).
After the user selects the desired option, they click on Upgrade.
The upgrade Quantity is set by default to match the current subscription quantity. However, the user can edit it to suit their needs best.
To proceed with an upgrade to an existing subscription, the user selects Existing as the upgrade destination.
All the eligible existing subscriptions will appear in the dropdown list, as shown below:
Here, the user can see the available subscription information:
The Final Unit Price is displayed when the user selects an existing subscription from the list.
After double-checking everything, the BSS user may click Upgrade.
A new pop-up window will appear, allowing the user to select the specific date when the upgrade should take effect.
Then, finally, the user clicks Save.
Once the above procedure is complete, the product will be provisioned to the end user automatically.
Partial Upgrade to an Existing NCE Subscription within the BSS Portal
To upgrade or downgrade a selected number of licenses via the BSS, the user specifies the quantity on the respective field, before selecting Upgrade.
Execution Flow During the Upgrade
After the upgrade is executed, the following actions will occur in BSS:
Subscription Status: For a partial upgrade, the source subscription remains Active. For a full upgrade, it changes to Cancelled.
Quantity: The license quantity of the source subscription is decreased based on the upgrade details.
Invoices: A credit pending invoice is issued for the source subscription, reflecting the decreased quantity and remaining days. A debit invoice is issued for the destination subscription, covering the upgraded quantity and billing cycle.
History: New records are logged for both the source and destination subscriptions.
