Excerpt

Following the order execution of a Bundle product, a subscription is created. However, the main difference between a normal subscription of a product and a Bundle subscription of two or more sub-products (with or without add-ons) is the fact that the sub-products (and add-ons) of a Bundle are invoiced through the main Bundle subscription and will follow the pricing options of the Bundle configuration. In this successive analysis, the user can gain a better understanding of how to manage a Bundle subscription along with its sub-subscriptions in the Storefront.

Bundle Subscription Rules

  • Cancellation of a Bundle subscription is possible but the cancellation of a Bundle's sub-product is not possible.
  • Changes in the quantity of a Bundle subscription affect the Bundle as a whole and not just the Bundle's sub-products, because no alterations can be made to the Bundle's sub-products after a successful order execution.

Accessing the Subscriptions' List-View

By login into Storefront and navigating to Billing > Subscriptions and clicking on the "Subscriptions" button, the Storefront user will witness all the subscriptions from all the accounts.

The Subscriptions' list-view, upon closer inspection, displays the Bundle subscriptions (according to their status) in such a way that they are easily identifiable. The element that differentiates them from the rest of the subscriptions is the icon used in front of the subscription's description.

In view of these differentiating elements of Bundle subscriptions, it is important to further analyze the second icon. The second icon's purpose is twofold. It is primarily used for visually illustrating that the row's subscription is in fact a Bundle, but upon hovering over it, it will also display a small information modal that depicts all the bundled sub-products' descriptions along with their licenses' quantity, which is quite a convenient feature. Furthermore, the three dots at the end of each row, allow the Storefront user to either buy more licenses (if applicable) or cancel the subscription along with its sub-subscriptions.

Managing Normal & Configurable Sub-Subscriptions

Managing either normal or configurable services and their sub-subscriptions is easy and straightforward inside the Bundle's subscription view page.

The button will not be displayed when the Bundle subscription is Inactive or Cancelled as well as when the Bundle subscription is Active but the sub-subscription hasn't been successfully provisioned. Also, in the latter case,  a "Failed" text will be displayed instead of the "Manage Your Service" button. Moreover, the button will also not be displayed when the Bundle's sub-product is a simple sub-product without provisioning

From within the Bundle's subscription view page, Storefront users have the option to add an extra add-on (from the sub-products of the bundle) on top of the bundle subscription, by clicking on the I want to... button and selecting the Add add-on button.

Once the Add add-on button is clicked, the following pop-up window appears where the Storefront user can select the add-on they wish to add on top of the Bundle.

As you can witness, the add-ons that appear in the list are the add-ons of the sub-products that are contained within the Bundle.

Specifically, in the "Buy add-ons" list you can search for an add-on, select an add-on, and change the quantity of the selected add-on before clicking the Submit button to submit the respective add-on, to the basket for purchase.
When the add-on is selected, along with its quantity, and the Submit button is clicked, the Storefront user is transferred to the 1st step of the checkout process called Basket Items page, where the extra add-on can be purchased on top of the Bundle subscription.
