Understanding the Available Dropbox Products
Dropbox offers four base-edition products. These editions are the Standard, the Advanced, the Advanced Server, and the Education. Concerning the editions Standard, Advanced, and Education, your customers can purchase three extra features (add-ons as Dropbox calls them) for most of those base-editions, namely, the "Extended Version History", the "Data Governance" and the "Replay".
Our implementation combines the base-edition products with the extra features when purchasing Dropbox products for the first time. Otherwise, you can upgrade your existing base-edition products to the extra-featured Dropbox products that we offer. Consequently, the philosophy is that all licensed users enjoy the same functionality from those services. In the following sections of this page, you can find further analysis of the Dropbox services.
In addition to the Dropbox products, HelloSign offers two products in the same Service Manager.
Getting the Product Type for the Dropbox Services
The first step is to get the definition of Dropbox services. For doing this, you must run the "Get Services Definition" action on the Dropbox Service Manager instance settings page. This action will create the product types Dropbox Subscription and HelloSign in your BSS along with 86 Dropbox products and 4 add-ons, as well as the 2 HelloSign products summed up into 92 products in total.
If you wish to check the results and/or logs of the Get Services Definition process, please check the 'Get Services Definition' Action - Non Microsoft page.
You are done creating the required Dropbox & HelloSign Product Types and/or updating the Service Manager with the latest functionality.
Upon the "Get Services Definition" successful process completion, you can locate its product type in BSS > Setup > Billing > Products > Product Types.
Dropbox Products List
The tables below contain all the Dropbox products and their extra features, as well as add-ons for the Advanced Server editions. Trials are also available for most Dropbox products, as shown below. The list of products is split into four tables.
Dropbox Product Details
To view in BSS all the Dropbox products and add-ons, please go to BSS > Billing > Products module and select the "Advanced Search..." option located at the BSS's right menu of any page and create an advanced search on the pop-up window that appears, under the Conditions tab that looks like this:
Column Name: | Field Name | Operator | Value |
Values to enter: | Product Type | contains | Dropbox |
After entering all three values as depicted on the image, please click the Search & Close button located at the bottom of the pop-up window to initiate the search and view the results.
Each Dropbox product will have a number of common product characteristics, namely Base Subscription, Number of licensed users, Additional Storage (for Advanced Server Only), and License code for additional users.
Base Subscription: The available values are "Education", "Advanced Edition", "Advanced Server", and "Standard Edition".
Additional Storage (for Advanced Server Only): Is a single additional storage pack of either a "10 TB Add-On" or a"50 TB Add-On".
Extended Version History (not for Advanced Server): Is the technical characteristic of a Dropbox product that displays whether that product has the specific product feature or not. Its value is true/false.
Data Governance (not for Advanced Server): Is the technical characteristic of a Dropbox product that displays whether that product has the specific product feature or not. Its value is true/false.
Replay (not for Advanced Server): Is the technical characteristic of a Dropbox product that displays whether that product has the specific product feature or not. Its value is true/false.
HelloSign Products List
The following are the HelloSign products, as they appear in the BSS:
Standard Monthly - Direct Purchase
Standard Annual - Direct Purchase
Please note that the Product Type is HelloSign Subscription.
Upgrade Paths & Mutual Exclusivity for Dropbox Products
During the "Get Services Definition" process, two main elements are automatically created. These elements are the upgrade paths of the products as well as the mutual exclusivity between them. As a result, no action is necessary on your end.
Certain subscription upgrades are possible, although the education Editions and the Advanced Server Editions are not upgradable. Also, there are five strict rules during this process:
The upgrades are possible between plans with the same billing cycle and the same billing frequency. A user cannot upgrade from a monthly to an annual subscription, or from an Annual Commitment Monthly Billed to a Annual Commitment Annually Billed subscription.
A Standard Edition subscription can be upgraded to Advanced Edition or Advanced Server Edition, while the Advanced Edition can be upgraded to Advanced Server.
Dropbox plans with Data Governance can be upgraded to plans with Data Governance and Replay.
Dropbox plans with Extended Version History can be upgraded to plans with Extended version history and Replay.
Therefore, Dropbox plans with Extended Version History and Data Governance are mutually exclusive services.
For HelloSign products, upgrading from monthly to annual is currently not supported, and the two are mutually exclusive.
Dropbox and Hellosign products are not mutually exclusive.
Upgrades are effective immediately.
Publishing Dropbox Products & Product Groups in Storefront
You can publish Dropbox or HelloSign products in your Storeftont either as distinct products or as products within a group (in case you want to offer a number of plans for the same service). In this section learn how to publish a Dropbox or HelloSign product as well as a product group in Storefront. The method for configuring the Basic Storefront Settings of a product and a product group is the same as any other product and product group.
To publish a Product to your Storefront, please follow the steps described on the page "Publish to Storefront Basic Options".
To publish a Product Group to your Storefront, please follow the steps described on the page "Publish a Product Group in Storefront".
A guide on creating a product group can be found on the page "Managing Product Groups".
The Storefront Settings page of a product group is similar to that of a product. Check the page Define the Marketing Material of your Product for details. The only difference is that here there is an extra tab, concerning Editions.
