Defining the Odix Products

In interworks.cloud platform, odix products must be defined based on the the product type. Let us proceed with the analysis of that product type and its properties before reaching to the analysis of the products, their creation, and configuration.

Understanding the Odix Product Type

After completing the activation of the odix Service Manager by running the Get Services Definition on the odix Application Settings page, one product type is created in the BSS, namely, the "odix FileWall". You can locate it by navigating to: BSS > Setup > Billing > Products > Product Types.

The property of the product type is the following:

  • Exchange Online Business: This product characteristic contains product information that is utilized during the communication between the two systems, BSS and odix.

Understanding the Odix Products

As we have previously mentioned since the odix end-products are not created automatically in BSS, the distributor should create them manually. Our suggestion, as per the odix's instructions, is for the distributor to create two identical products but with a certain pricing change.

  1. The first product must be free of charge (0 cost and sell price) and is addressed only for resellers. This product must not be visible on the Storefront, since only via BSS this product can be provided to a reseller. The purpose of that free product is for odix to offer the resellers the ability to maintain some "free odix licenses" after the reseller has sold a number of licenses to his end-customers.
  2. The second product must have a cost price as well as a sell price and is addressed for the direct customers, the resellers, as well as the end-customers of a reseller. This product must be visible on the Storefront, since everyone should be able to purchase it. This is considered the paid odix product that offers the FileWall service towards the respective Microsoft Exchange Online services.

Also, the (paid) product is available for purchase, from the direct customers as well as from the resellers either for personal use or for their end-customers. Moreover, odix offers a thirty (30) days trial period for the (paid) product, during which the customer can upgrade it to a paid subscription.

Creating the Odix Products

Since the products of odix in our BSS platform are handled as normal products, both odix products need to be manually created, via the Products List in BSS.
Both (the Free and the Paid) odix products can be created by examining the guide under the Creating Products page.

Setting Billing Frequency to the Odix Products

The billing frequency for both odix products must be Monthly and Annually, based on the odix's suggestions.

Adding Prices to the Odix Products

Since the pricing policy of odix products is based on consultation between the distributor and odix, the pricing of each product must always follow this consultation.
As a result, after the distributor has arranged the pricing policy with odix, he can edit the pricing of the paid product in BSS accordingly, since the first product will remain free. This can be achieved by clicking on the "Edit Recurring Charges" button and manually assigning the prices to that odix product.

Please remember to allow a trial period of 30 days before saving your changes.

Publishing Odix Products to Storefront

After the creation of both odix products, what you(the distributor) need to do for making sure that only the paid product is available to your customers, is to publish it in your Storefront by following the instructions described in Publish a Product in Storefront page.
The paid product should be published in your Storefront accompanied by its marketing material.
