Acronis allows its partners to offer free trials to anyone who wishes to evaluate the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud products and can convert these customers to paid resellers at the end of the free period. Our platform automates the management of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud product trials by allowing your customers to evaluate any Cyber Protect Cloud product. |
The business rules applied for the trials are the following:
|
When Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud products are created via the "Get Services Definition", a 1-Month trial is suggested to be set on all of them, from the MSP. However, this is not compulsory.
The trial option for a specific Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud product can be enabled by activating the "Trial Period" option and setting a 1-Month trial period from the details page of any of the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud products.
Enabling Trial Period - New VS Existing Customers It is expected that for all Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud newcomers, once the Get Services Definition process is run from the preferred instance of the Acronis service manager in BSS Setup, the trial option on all available products to be enabled automatically. However, for the existing customers, the trials must be enabled manually by editing all the available Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud products one by one. Configuration of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Trial Products BSS users can update the trial period as well as disable or enable trials for all products found either inside or outside a product group. |
Suggested Trial Period and Quantity We suggest setting the trial period to 1 Month since this is the period that Acronis allows for trials. Also, the quantity must always be set to one (1). |
Trial Fixed Price with Overage PPU Products Trial Fixed Price with Overage PPU products with Fixed Price with Overage can be available by just enabling the trial option of a given PPU product, such as an Acronis product.
|

Ordering Rules
|
As previously analyzed, an Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Trial subscription is created via the Storefront Checkout or via BSS by creating a trial subscription. When a trial subscription is provisioned, the following actions take place:
The customer's Acronis account is switched to “trial” mode.
Then, the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Trial subscription synchronization takes place.
BSS: By login into BSS and navigating to your Account overview page, and from there clicking on the Subscriptions button, located under the Shortcuts menu.
On the top right corner, you can witness the trial subscription expiration counter so that it is clear to the BSS user when the trial will expire.
By clicking on the Usage Records tab, you can witness the trial Usages with no prices.
As with any other trial product in the BSS platform, the options provided for a trial are the following: Upgrade to Paid, andCancel.
In the following sections of this page, you can find an analysis of all the aforementioned options.
"Extend Trial Period" Option Not Applicable The Extend Trial Period option must not be used since it cannot be utilized for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud trials because Acronis does not support it for this product type. |
Automatic "Trial to Paid" Change from Acronis After the end of the trial in 1 month, Acronis automatically changes any trial subscription to a paid one, meaning that the Acronis tenant account of the trial subscription is also changed from trial to production automatically. |
A trial subscription can be upgraded to paid via both the Storefront and the BSS platform.
In the Storefront, MSPs have to agree with the terms of use on checkout.
When the trial subscription is upgraded to paid, it is upgraded to "production" mode along with the Acronis tenant Account of the customer.
When a subscription is upgraded to paid, during the paid subscription provisioning, the Acronis account tenant mode is switched from "trial" to "production".
When an inactive trial subscription is upgraded to paid, during the paid subscription provisioning, the Acronis account tenant is reinstated as "enabled," and the tenant mode is switched from "trial" to "production".
Upgrade to Paid a Fixed Price with Overage PPU Trial Subscription The “upgrade to paid” process works exactly the same as for Acronis PPU trial subscriptions. The only difference regarding the Fixed Price with Overage PPU product is that an order item displaying the fixed price will appear inside the invoice during the invoicing. |
Information Concerning the Effects of Acronis Account Tenant Mode-Switching In Acronis, if you switch the mode from trial to production in the middle of a month, the entire month will be included in the monthly service usage report. For this reason, we recommend that you switch the mode on the third day of a month. However, since BSS trial duration is the period that is set on the product and does not follow prorata restrictions, the trial subscriptions will almost never end on a different date than the end of the month. |
Canceling a Trial Subscription
If an MSP cancels the trial subscription of one of his end customers, then this trial subscription is not upgradable to a paid one anymore, so the end customer has to request a new purchase from the MSP.
When an Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Trial subscription is canceled, the Acronis tenant is updated to disabled.
All three cancellation execution types (Immediate, Specific Data, End of Billing Period) are available when canceling a trial subscription.
If an end customer's active trial subscription expires, the end customer can either request from their MSP to upgrade it to a paid one or request a new purchase of a paid subscription.
If an end customer's inactive trial subscription expires, a new purchase of a paid subscription must be requested from the MSP.
When an Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Trial subscription is expired, the Acronis tenant account is updated to disabled.
