This page explains all the relevant information you and your partners may need to manage the Adobe Three-Year Commitment (3YC) Subscriptions.

On July 2023, Adobe began supporting the Extended Subscription Term feature in the VIP MP program, which introduced the Three-Year Commitment (3YC) loyalty program that allows customers to get greater discount levels and locked prices for three annual terms by committing to a minimum quantity (min 10 licenses and/or 1,000 transactions), which should be purchased and maintained throughout the three-year commitment period. Additionally, they can buy extra licenses at heavily discounted prices and pay annually. The given discount prices refer to the minimum license and/or transaction quantity, which means that if a customer exceeds it, every additional seat will cost the same amount! If they want extra discounts, they need to accept a higher quantity of the 3YC commitment.

Making Available the Three-Year Commitment (3YC) Option in your Platform

In order to make available the 3YC option in your Storefront and BSS platform, you have to update your existing Adobe catalog of products via the Import Products tool in BSS in order to include the new SKUs on the existing products. Cloud infrastructures have this functionality enabled by default, but On-Premise infrastructures need to be on the latest Adobe Service Manager version in order to have this functionality available.

The enrollment of a customer to the 3YC loyalty program is a semi-automated process where the partner(reseller) initiates it through an existing Adobe subscription in the Storefront and BSS platform, and then the end customer has to first accept the commitment terms in the Adobe Admin Console to receive the expected discounts, in order to then proceed with the actual order of the committed minimum licenses and/or transactions.

Governing Rules of 3YC Feature

The following rules govern the functionality of the 3YC enrollment mechanism and the 3YC subscriptions.

  • The 3YC enrollment can be applied to the Adobe Sign products and the Adobe Teams/Enterprise products.

  • A successful enrolment request can be accepted within seven (7) days, and another seven (7) days from the acceptance date until the final order placement.Otherwise, it gets expired, and a new request can be created.

  • The end customers can be enrolled in the 3YC loyalty program for either a minimum quantity of licenses or consumables or both (By minimum quantity, we mean the licenses or consumables you currently have in the subscription. If you have, for example, 10 licenses from Adobe A and 15 from Adobe B, then the minimum quantity is 25). Additionally, if they enroll for one type (i.e., licenses) and there is no minimum quantity for the other type (i.e., consumables), the customers will not get any discount for that type (i.e., consumables). However, they can enroll in that type (i.e., consumables) at a later time, and their new request will be merged into one commitment with the same dates.

  • After successfully enrolling in the 3YC loyalty program and placing the respective order, the subscription must remain at the predefined minimum quantity limit for the whole three-year period. Therefore, the predefined minimum quantity can remain as is or be increased but never decreased.

  • Canceling a 3YC Adobe order afterwards is not possible because the end customer will drop below their minimum committed quantity, which effectively britches the commitment.

  • During subscription renewals, the quantity must stay at or above the 3YC committed quantity. Requests to reduce the renewal quantity below the committed quantity or deactivate the auto-renew functionality inside the committed period will be rejected.

Availability of 3YC Feature Depending on Customer Category

  1. For New Customers: The process can be initiated from both the Storefront and the BSS platforms either by creating and synchronizing a new account (via BSS) or by creating an order for a new account (via Storefront). Therefore, in the case of the creation of a new VIP MP customer from both our platforms, two 3YC fields are displayed (either inside the 3rd step of the checkout process in Storefront or under the Account Synchronization Options in BSS), in order to begin the enrollment process to the Adobe three-year commitment (3YC) loyalty program. The extra two fields must be filled in with the minimum license or transaction quantity or both. Lastly, these fields participate in the account synchronization process.

  2. For Existing VIP Customers: Existing VIP customers with active 3YC subscriptions can be transferred to the VIP MP channel and retain their 3YC commitment terms since there are no changes during the transfer. The actual migration process can be performed via our related tool called Adobe VIP MP Migration Tool, which is similar to the existing migration method.

  3. For Existing VIP MP Customers: The process can be initiated either from within the Storefront or from within the BSS platform from an existing Subscription.

    1. For Storefront: More specifically, the partner (reseller) can click on the I want to..., from within the Subscription view page, and select the option Adobe 3YC, to initiate the request process by filling in the minimum license or transaction quantity or both. The same option can display the status of the request once it has been dispatched while it also displays the status of the commit as well as the dates and the minimum quantities.

    2. For BSS: More specifically, the BSS user can click on the Adobe 3YC option, under the Shortcuts menu located inside the Subscription view page,to initiate the request process by filling in the minimum license or transaction quantity or both. The same option can display the status of the request once it has been dispatched while it also displays the status of the commit as well as the dates and the minimum quantities.

In the following examples, you can find an analysis of the possible statuses of the Adobe 3YC request and the commit, along with their meaning and overall flow.

Initiating the Three-Year Commitment (3YC) Request

The enrollment of a new or existing VIP MP customer to the Adobe three-year commitment (3YC) loyalty program is quite a simple process from both the Storefront and the BSS platform.

New VIP MP Customer

For the new VIP MP customer, the enrollment process to the Adobe three-year commitment (3YC) loyalty program can be initiated from both the Storefront and the BSS platforms. For more information, please check the following two links.

Existing VIP MP Customer

For the existing VIP MP customer, the enrollment process to the Adobe three-year commitment (3YC) loyalty program can be initiated from both the Storefront and the BSS platforms via an existing Adobe VIP MP subscription by selecting the option Adobe 3YC.

Once the Adobe 3YC option is selected, a pop-up window appears where three main sections appear, while there is another hidden section called Request Status that appears after the first submission of the request.

  • The 3YC Status indicates the status of the commitment, which by default is set to the value Uncommitted. Once the request gets accepted by the end customer and the final order with the minimum committed quantities is placed, the value of the status changes to Commited.

  • The Minimum License Quantity displays two fields that the user has to fill in the editable one at the beginning of the request, which is the minimum license quantity they wish to commit to for the three-year period. After the request is dispatched and accepted, and the commitment order is placed, then that number is transferred to the (grey-colored) non-editable numeric field.

  • The Minimum Transaction Quantity displays two fields that the user has to fill in the editable one at the beginning of the request, which is the minimum transaction quantity they wish to commit to for the three-year period. After the request is dispatched and accepted, and the commitment order is placed, then that number is transferred to the (grey-colored) non-editable numeric field.

    • The hidden Request Status appears after the request has been submitted for the first time as well as when the request is accepted, and once visible, it indicates the status of the request, which by default is set to the value Requested. Therefore, once the request gets accepted by the end customer, the status changes its value to Accepted. If seven(7) days have passed from the initial request and the end customer has not accepted the 3YC terms and minimum quantities, then the status changes its value to Expired/Non-compliant.

When the Storefront/BSS user submits a filled-in 3YC request containing at least one of the required minimum quantities (be that Licenses or Transactions or Both) and then clicks the Submit/Proceed button(image1), the request is:

  1. Dispatched to the Adobe Admin Console where the end customer must log in to it and accept the request. At this stage, the request status of this request is set to Requested until the end customer accepts it(image2).

    1. If they do not accept it within 7 days, the request changes its status to Expired(image3).

    2. If they accept it within 7 days, the request status changes to Accepted(image4).

  2. When the Storefront/BSS user places the new commitment order, the request will move to the Committed status, and the duration of the new commitment will be displayed next to the status while the quantities will be locked (image5).

Request Not Accepted by the Customer

In the event that 7 days have passed without the end customer accepting the request, a new one can be formed and be re-submitted. Furthermore, a Storefront/BSS user can re-submit/re-proceed a new 3YC request while there is already a committed one.

To do that, they must place the new requested quantities in the respective editable numeric fields and click the Submit/Proceed button again.

  1. More specifically, the display of a new request is similar to the first request, meaning the request status will be Requested until the end customer accepts it (image 6).

    1. If they do not accept it within 7 days, the request will move to an Expired status (image7).

    2. If they do, the request will move to an Accepted status (image8).

  2. When the Storefront/BSS user places the new commitment order, the request will move to the Committed status, and the duration of the new commitment will be displayed next to the status while the quantities will be locked (image9).

As you can witness from both examples above, after the request gets Accepted by the end customer, the Submit/Proceed button is removed/deactivated from the form. Therefore, the only time that the Storefront/BSS user can proceed with the re-submitting/re-proceeding of a 3YC request is either at the beginning, after another request has been previously submitted, or after a request has expired or been rejected.

Managing 3YC Subscriptions

A three-year commitment (3YC) Adobe subscription can be managed similarly to a non-3YC one.

Increasing & Decreasing Licenses or Transaction Quantities of a 3YC Subscription

A user can increase the number of licenses and cancel them immediately (inside the 14-day cancellation window) or at the end of the billing cycle. However, remember that the 3YC subscriptions must remain at the minimum quantity limit for the whole 3-year period (meaning the existing cycle and the upcoming 2 renewals). Canceling orders will be rejected if they would result in the customer dropping below their minimum committed quantity. Furthermore, subscription renewals must stay at or above the 3YC committed quantity. Requests to reduce the renewal quantity below the predefined minimum committed quantity will be rejected. Also, the deactivation of the auto-renew option inside the committed period will also be rejected.

Example: A customer accepts a 3YC request for 20 x licenses (committed amount).

  1. They can increase the licenses from 20, for example, to 30.

  2. They can cancel/decrease these additional 10 licenses (either immediately or at the end of the billing cycle).

  3. The upcoming two renewals should be for at least 20 seats (committed amount).

Recommitment of a Three-Year Commitment (3YC) Subscription

The recommitment request, which is considered a new 3YC request, after the first 3-year period, can be submitted in the last 30 days of the active(previous) 3YC commitment period. The new recommitment request can be accepted before the end of the current 3YC term, but it will not go into effect until afterward.

Also, the recommitment request can not be requested alongside a commitment request or if the customer already has an existing commitment request.

Engaging in a Recommitment Request

Below, you can find the steps on how to enable and dispatch a recommitment request through the new 3YC window that is applicable to both the Storefront and the BSS platform.

  1. A BSS or Storefront user can submit a recommitment request by enabling the toggle button called Renew 3YC.

    Image Removed
  2. After enabling it (image3 above), they can fill in the white boxes with the requested quantities and then click on the Submit button.

  3. After that, the status of this recommitment request will change to Requested.

  4. The end customer has to log in to their Adobe Admin Console to accept the recommitment 3YC request within the next 7 days.

  5. Once the customer accepts the recommitment request, the status of it will change from Requested to Accepted, and the following message will be displayed.

The recommitment request is for another Three-Year-Commit agreement (additional 3 years) after the current commitment ends. The 3YC recommitment request will change from ACCEPTED to COMMITTED status at the beginning of the new cycle.

According to Adobe, the recommitment request can not be updated, which means that once you accept it, you can not send another one.
