This option is also available via Storefront.

Applicable Rules for the Upgrade

The BSS user has available, by default, the following information Upgrade To drop-down list shows all the available upgrade options. If a subscription has no available upgrade path, the Upgrade To drop-down menu will be empty.

To help them through the process, the BSS user can also review information on the current subscription:

  1. Current Subscription: The name of the current subscription.

  2. Quantity: The number of licenses of the current subscription.

  3. Unit Price: The price per unit of the current subscription.

  4. Billing Plan: The current billing plan (whenever applicable).

When a product is selected, the BSS user has the option (depending on the Quantity of licenses) to proceed with a full or partial upgrade towards a new NCE subscription, by altering the Quantity number of the subscription they wish to upgrade to. Please note that the Quantity value is by default the number of licenses from the existing subscription.

Info

The option to upgrade to an Existing (destination) subscription will become available in the upcoming releases.

In this scenario, the BSS user can witness, based on the selected price list (from the available price lists) that there is certain information available, such as the Unit Price value, the Discount percentage value (or Currency Amount) as well as the Final Unit Price value.

In this scenario, the BSS user can click the Edit Value Icon.pngImage Removed icon next to the Unit Price field as well as next to the Discount field to fill in the desired values per field. After providing at least one of these two values, the Final Unit Price value will show the calculated result.

Therefore, the BSS user has the option of changing or retaining the same pricelist (based on the pricing of the upgraded product) as well as setting a default unit price manually instead of utilizing a price list. Lastly, once the product, its quantity, and the pricing method are set up, the BSS user can click on the Upgrade button, to proceed with the actual upgrade of the NCE subscription.

In the next pop-up window, specify the date when the upgrade should take effect, and select Save. The product will be provisioned to the end user automatically.

Full Upgrade

Partial Upgrade

  • A new installment plan is created on the existing subscription for the upgraded product.

    • The first installment’s Start Date is the subscription’s (new) Start Date.

    • The last installment’s End Date is the subscription’s End Date.

    • If the upgrade happens midterm (e.g. sometime during the 3rd month of a 12 month plan) then the new Installment Plan will have only 10 installments and the first installment will have a prorated charge according to the Billing Period.

  • The initial installment plan of the subscription will be canceled and:

    • the Credit invoice for the decreased quantity will be generated from the Billing Service.

    • will have all pending (not invoiced) installments canceled.

  • The existing subscription keeps the same Subscription ID and the same End Date.

  • The existing subscription changes the Start Date, the Product ID, and all its prices (initial/final/cost/protected/ etc.).

  • A new Subscription with a new Installment Plan is created for the upgraded product.

    • The first installment’s Start Date is the new subscription’s Start Date.

    • The last installment’s End Date is the new subscription’s End Date.

    • If the upgrade happens midterm (e.g. sometime during the 3rd month of a 12 month plan) then the new Installment Plan will have only 10 installments and the first installment will have a prorated charge according to the Billing Period.

  • The existing Subscription experiences a quantity decrease with a prorated refund calculated for the licenses that were upgraded.

  • The Credit invoice for the decreased quantity is generated automatically

To proceed with an upgrade to an existing subscription, the user selects Existing as the upgrade destination.
